About CheerForce

We are beyond excited that you have chosen to become part of our family; one of the most prestigious all star programs in the country. CheerForce is not just about cheerleading, but about an experience that will be a positive influence on our athletes for the rest of their lives. Our mission is to teach our athletes new skills while learning teamwork, goal-setting, and sportsmanship. We instill the value of commitment and integrity, as well as the importance of hardwork and a positive attitude. We do all of this while building self-

confidence and leadership skills. We are more excited for the upcoming season than ever before, and we welcome you to our family!

CheerForce San Diego was established in 2009. Prior to that, long time

rivals, So Cal Elite Outlaws and West Coast Mavericks spent years going

back and forth in that top spot, all originating from the same place initially.

Ray Jasper, our Worlds choreographer and owner of Action Spirit, has been an

inspiration and leader for a lot of us from the beginning. From working summer camps, being coached by, and cheering on a team with Ray, the fire was lit within all of us.

In 1997, there was a split in the original group. We now had 2 amazing and extremely competitive gyms operating in San Diego. It was in the next 12 years that your existing staff and those who came up with us coaching them, really sharpened their craft. It was a true battle for years. We consider each other family on staff and did back then too. As competition grew, the civil war worsened. Brother versus sister and long time friendships challenged because of this crazy little sport of ours. Leaderships came and went within the 2 camps but there were a couple of people who saw through the damage and years of mud slinging in a small little seaside town.

In 2009, Jen with Outlaws, and formerly Mavericks, and Casey with Mavericks, and formerly Outlaws (told you it was crazy) were in ownership positions and had been friends since 1993. Their philosophies were aligned. Past leadership had made it impossible for such an alliance. Knowing they wanted the best for their athletes and the changing housing debacle at the time, these 2 bravely

took the step that would bring multiple World and Summit Championships home but more importantly reunite the top cheerleading minds and coaches in San Diego. Family was the focus now.

Shawn and Becky Herrera had CheerForce in Simi Valley. They had just medaled at Worlds in back to back years and had heard of our impending merger. Simultaneously, in San Diego the struggle was real. Mavericks are red and Outlaws are teal. What name would the merger be called? To say they were stuck is accurate. Shawn and Becky reached out with a business plan that eased all the concerns at hand. New name, new colors, new flag to raise. More locations would follow and our nation had grown. Much was to be learned, but the challenge was accepted head on.

We come to you today wiser and parents ourselves. We want to win and succeed as much as the next guy. The difference is we

won’t sacrifice our values and belief that the athlete’s enrichment is more important than any trophy. We love each athlete the

same and give each the same experience. Our pride and joy now is knowing each of you is informed, and feel safe giving us so

much time and trust with your greatest creations and them knowing they will be loved and championed every step of their journey with us.

Welcome to our Family!
